WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (AP) - A memorial has been dedicated in West Liberty to victims of the devastating tornadoes that hit the eastern Kentucky community in the spring.
WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/RKfyU5) reports that state police organized the ceremony Friday during which a coffee tree was planted as a way to honor victims and to give continued hope for the future. Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer said the tree symbolizes how resilient residents have been.
Among the things destroyed by the tornadoes was the largest recorded coffee tree in the area. Brewer says officials hope the new coffee tree at the park will allow people to think about future growth and reflect on the past.
