Just like Black Friday, Small Business Saturday is getting an early start.
The shopping day, which falls on the Saturday between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, was founded in 2010 by American Express. It was designed to help small businesses get their fair share of shopping dollars during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year.
According to Bank of America?s fall 2012 Small Business Owner Report, Atlanta small business owners see little to no benefit from Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Eighty-nine percent of Atlanta small business owners say that Black Friday has either a minor or no impact on their business?s bottom line, and 76 percent believe Cyber Monday is overhyped and has no significance to their bottom line.
But that hasn?t stopped some local shops from getting a piece of the early action including women?s clothing boutique, Rene Rene, which will offer shoppers 25 percent off everything in-store from Fri. ? Sun. and Bella Bag, home of high-end pre-owned handbags (Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior), which is offering 20 percent off store wide on Black Friday.
If you?re looking for stores to visit on Small Biz Saturday, visit the American Express Small Business Saturday website. American Express credit card holders get a $25 credit when they spend at least $25 at a small business!
If you are a small business owner in the Atlanta metro area or if you know of a local small business that is participating in Black Friday or Small Business Saturday, post a comment here with details!
