Standohar,a Junior, was the AAC Conference 14-match Regular-Season Scoring Average Leader and the Post-Season Overall AAC Tournament Medalist,shooting an even-par 72. He led Girard to an Undefeated Regular-Season AAC Conference Team Title and also Post-Season AAC Tournament and OHSAA Division II Sectional Team Titles. It marked the third straight year that Evan Standohar,as Team Medalist, has led Girard to the AAC National Division Title.
Beechy,a Senior,was runner-up in AAC Regular-Season Scoring Average and runner-up at the Post-Season AAC Tournament. He led Newton Falls to a runner-up finish in the AAC National Division Regular-Season. Beechy qualified for the OHSAA State Tournament, a first in Newton Falls High School history, where he finished 34th out of 72 golfers in Columbus.
Standohar and Beechy's 'head-to-head' battle, with both players firing impressive one-under par 35's, hi-lited the Mahoning Valley's High School 'Golf Match of the Year' at Riverview Golf Course in September. Girard and Newton Falls were TIED after their top four players scores were added up, but Girard escaped with a one-stroke victory after the 'tie-breaker' fifth player scores were tallied, preserving Girard's undefeated season.?
